IMS Global Learning Consortium Names Capella University President to Board

Chris Cassirer joins board of global leaders in educational and learning technology

MINNEAPOLIS, January 27, 2010 - IMS Global Learning Consortium has elected Capella University President Chris Cassirer to its board of directors. Capella University (www.capella.edu) is an accredited*, fully online university that has built its reputation by providing quality graduate education for working adults.

IMS Global Learning Consortium represents the world's leaders in educational and learning technology. "Electing Chris Cassirer to the board marks a compelling show of confidence for Capella University's leadership in applying technology to enhance the educational experience," said Rob Abel, Chief Executive Officer, IMS Global Learning Consortium.

Cassirer is an internationally recognized educator, researcher and business leader with expertise in executive leadership programs, business and management strategy, medical malpractice risk management and patient safety. He completed his doctoral and post-doctoral training in health policy and management at the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health. He holds a master of public health in health policy and management from the Yale University School of Medicine and a bachelor of arts in psychology from Rutgers University.

In 2009, Capella received a Learning Impact Award, the highest honor from the international IMS Global Learning Consortium for outstanding use of technology in support of learning.
